Unauthenticated redirects via unrestricted redirect parameter
Published Aug 3, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Open redirect in Liferay Portal Notifications module 7.0.0 through 7.3.1 allows remote attackers to redirect users to arbitrary external URLs. The module accepts a redirect parameter without restricting the destination, enabling crafted links to send users from a trusted Liferay origin to an attacker-controlled site. The attack requires no account but does require a victim to follow the link; the documented impact is phishing-enabling redirection rather than direct server compromise.
