Password disclosure via cleartext workflow storage
Published Aug 3, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Cleartext password storage in Liferay Portal 7.3.2 and earlier and Liferay DXP allows attackers with database access to read user passwords. When workflow is enabled for new-user creation, the Portal Workflow module writes each submitted password to the database without encryption. Database access is required, and exposure is limited to passwords captured through the enabled workflow.
