Authenticated internal-file retrieval via unchecked upload URL
Published Jul 14, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Server-side request forgery in Element-IT HTTP Commander 5.3.3 allows remote authenticated users to retrieve files from internal HTTP and FTP servers. UploadFromURLHandler accepts a supplied URL without validating its destination, causing the server to request internal or loopback resources. Access requires authentication and an enabled Upload from URL feature; new installations disable it by default, and responses can disclose internal files or reveal open ports.
