CVE-2021-33104

Local service interruption via unrestricted physical-memory mapping

Published Feb 16, 2023 · Updated Jan 27, 2025

Improper access control in Intel One Boot Flash Update Utility before 14.1.28 allows local users to interrupt service through a kernel driver. The Windows FLASHUD.sys driver exposes physical-memory mapping through MmMapIoSpace without adequately restricting low-privileged callers. An authenticated local account is required; Intel reports availability loss only, while public research does not establish the exact crash mode.
