CVE-2021-33095

Local privilege escalation via unquoted installer path

Published Nov 17, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024

Unquoted search path in the Intel KB LED Service installer before 1.0.0.4 allows local users to gain elevated privileges. The installer leaves a search-path element containing spaces unquoted, allowing Windows to resolve an attacker-controlled executable from a parent path. Exploitation requires existing low-privilege local access and user interaction, and successful abuse runs code with installer privileges.
