Device location disclosure via permissionless MapContext calls
Published Jul 26, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Missing authorization in Tencent QQ 8.7.1 for Android and iOS allows attackers to obtain device location through MapContext APIs. The mini-program interface permits qq.createMapContext to create a map, moveToLocation to center it on the device, and getCenterLocation to return its coordinates without enforcing the host location permission. A mini program must execute inside QQ; the resulting latitude and longitude disclosure affects confidentiality only.
