User impersonation via ignored SAML signatures
Published Jun 4, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
SAML signature bypass in SOGo 2.x before 2.4.1 and 3.x through 5.x before 5.1.1 allows remote attackers to impersonate users. The processAuthnResponse method in SOGoSAML2Session sets Lasso's signature-verification hint to ignore before processing an authentication response, causing unsigned or forged assertions to be accepted. The flaw is reachable only when SAML authenticates users, and its documented consequence is account impersonation.
