Password disclosure via plaintext project-transfer exchange
Published Apr 4, 2022 · Updated Apr 16, 2025
Cleartext credential transmission in AutomationDirect CLICK PLC firmware before 3.00 allows attackers to capture PLC passwords over a network. The unlock and project-transfer exchanges send the configured password without encryption, exposing it to traffic observers. The attacker must have network visibility between the programming software and PLC; the captured password can enable later authenticated access.
