Authenticated PHP execution via unsafe block preview
Published Jun 1, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
PHP code injection in Invision Community before 4.6.0 allows remote authenticated users to execute arbitrary PHP through block preview. The previewBlock method passes attacker-controlled block_content to IPS_Theme::runProcessFunction, which evaluates it as PHP without adequate validation. Exploitation requires sidebar-management permission, such as Moderator or Administrator, and the CMS application to be enabled.
