Client-side code execution via unescaped backslash
Published Feb 20, 2023 · Updated Mar 10, 2025
Cross-site scripting in Countly Server Community Edition before 21.11 allows remote authenticated users to execute script in a victim's browser. The reset.html template embeds message and password_min query parameters inside a JavaScript string; HTML escaping leaves backslashes unescaped, so crafted values break out of the string. An attacker account and victim navigation to a malicious link are required, after which injected script runs in the victim's Countly browser context.
