Code execution via unverified Getting Started content
Published Jan 23, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Improper certificate validation in TI Code Composer Studio IDE 8.x through 10.x before 10.1.1 allows attackers to execute code. The Getting Started view uses JxBrowser to load a YouTube playlist, and the embedded browser accepts any HTTPS certificate instead of rejecting certificate errors. An attacker positioned to intercept that connection can replace the playlist response with content that invokes the liveaction protocol and reaches Runtime.exec in the IDE process.
