CVE-2021-32833Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Unauthenticated file read via Windows path separators

Published Sep 9, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024

File read in Media Browser Emby Server 4.6.4.0 and earlier allows remote attackers to retrieve host files through crafted HTTP paths. The HLS and image handlers accept encoded Windows path separators in route values and resolve attacker-controlled absolute or traversal paths outside intended media locations. Image reads require no authentication but allow listed image extensions only; unrestricted reads through the HLS route also require a valid media GUID exposed to authenticated users.
