Remote code execution in Squirrelly before 9.0.0 allows remote attackers to execute JavaScript through malicious Express render data. The renderFile path passes the Express data object into getConfig, allowing attacker-controlled autoEscape and defaultFilter values to enter generated template code. Exploitation requires a downstream application to pass user-controlled data, such as req.query, directly to res.render and runs code in the Node process.
