Host file destruction via MKSNAP path traversal
Published Aug 3, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Path traversal in Skytable before 0.5.1 allows remote authenticated users to delete or overwrite host files through MKSNAP. The enhanced MKSNAP action accepts its second argument as a snapshot name and resolves ../ sequences outside the snapshot directory before writing the .snapshot path. A connected client can damage only files writable by the database-server process, but the result can corrupt application or host data.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
