CVE-2021-32807Network attack vector

Authenticated code execution via exposed string Formatter

Published Jul 30, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024

Code injection in Zope Foundation AccessControl 4.0 through 4.2 and 5.0 through 5.1 allows remote authenticated users to execute arbitrary Python code. The restricted-code policy exposes string.Formatter, whose overridable formatting hooks provide access to unsafe Python libraries outside the intended sandbox. Exploitation requires Python 3 and permission to add or edit Script (Python) objects through the web, an ability limited to the Manager role by default.
