CVE-2021-32801

Encryption-key disclosure via unsanitized exception traces

Published Sep 7, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024

Sensitive-data exposure in affected Nextcloud Server versions allows local users to read Encryption-at-Rest key material from logs. ExceptionSerializer omitted encryption-app methods from its sensitive-function list, allowing their arguments to enter serialized exception traces without redaction. Exposure requires Encryption-at-Rest, an exception in an affected method, active logging, and access to the resulting log.
