Service hang via exponential regex backtracking
Published Jun 28, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Regular expression denial of service in Prism before 1.24.0 allows remote attackers to hang syntax highlighting with crafted text. Regex patterns in the ASCIIDoc and ERB language grammars perform exponential backtracking while matching adversarial input. The consuming application must highlight untrusted text with either affected grammar; other Prism language grammars are not affected.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
