Authenticated file disclosure via absolute docs_dir path
Published Jun 3, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Path traversal in @backstage/techdocs-common before 0.6.3 allows remote authenticated users to read files from TechDocs build hosts. TechdocsGenerator accepted an absolute docs_dir path from mkdocs.yml and let MkDocs copy that directory's contents into published documentation. Exploitation requires permission to modify a documentation source repository and access the TechDocs backend API, which exposes the copied files.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
