Account takeover via cleartext backend API requests
Published Jun 16, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Cleartext transmission in VeryFitPro 3.2.8 for Android allows man-in-the-middle attackers to steal credentials and take over accounts. The app sends login, registration, and password-change requests to veryfitproapi.veryfitplus.com over HTTP, exposing usernames and password hashes in transit. An attacker on the same local network or any intermediate network device can capture the traffic and reuse the disclosed account data.
