Stored XSS via nested BBCode URL tags
Published May 12, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Stored XSS in Smartstore 4.1.1 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to execute script through a crafted forum post. Nested BBCode URL tags cause a second regex replacement to reinterpret quotes introduced by the first before _ForumPost.cshtml renders FormattedText as raw HTML. A victim must view the post; an administrator's session can be abused to create a new administrator and upload a code-executing plugin.
