Authenticated file read and internal-service access via WebSockets
Published Aug 5, 2021 · Updated Oct 25, 2024
SSRF in the Fortinet FortiManager and FortiAnalyzer GUI allows remote authenticated users to read files and access internal services. The WebSocket proxy and dispatch methods fetch attacker-controlled URLs without validating the scheme or blocking references to internal resources. Even restricted accounts without Administrative Domain access can use file URLs to read root-accessible files or gopher URLs to communicate with loopback services.
