System-file tampering via unrestricted crafted-file upload

Published Aug 4, 2021 · Updated Oct 25, 2024

Unrestricted file upload in the FortiPortal web interface allows remote authenticated users to tamper with underlying system files. The upload path accepts specially crafted files without adequately restricting their type or destination; Fortinet has not disclosed the affected endpoint or validation logic. A low-privileged account is required, and the documented consequence is limited to modifying or replacing files on the FortiPortal appliance.
