Traffic interception via missing certificate validation
Published Aug 5, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Improper certificate validation in affected Acronis True Image, Agent, and Cyber Protect releases allows attackers to intercept traffic. The TLS connection logic accepts server certificates without validation; Acronis has not identified a narrower component or omitted check. Exploitation requires interception of a user-initiated network connection and exposes traffic confidentiality and integrity without interrupting service.
