Reflected script execution via URL-decoded file path
Published May 11, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Reflected XSS in OctoPrint before 1.6.0 allows remote attackers to execute script in a user's browser through a crafted API request. The /api/files endpoint URL-decodes a nonexistent file path and embeds it unescaped in an error response, allowing markup event handlers to run. Exploitation requires a user to open the crafted response; the script runs in the OctoPrint origin and can read or alter browser-accessible data.
