Information disclosure in Canonical Apport before Ubuntu fixes allows local users to read private data via crafted symbolic links or FIFOs. The read_file() helper in apport/hookutils.py follows links and opens FIFOs when called by openjdk-13 Apport hooks, instead of restricting reads to regular files. Local low-privilege users can trigger the affected hooks and obtain contents of files they could not otherwise read; the issue does not provide integrity or availability impact.
