Code execution via unchecked SDD emulator executable
Published Dec 17, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Code execution in SICK AG SOPAS Engineering Tool before 4.8.0 allows local attackers to run an executable through a crafted SDD file. An SDD can embed an arbitrary executable and register it as an emulator, which SOPAS ET launches without validating the bundled program. Execution requires a user to install the attacker-supplied SDD and start its emulator, after which the program runs with that user's privileges.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
