Service interruption via unchecked WPS input
Published Dec 25, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Out-of-bounds read in the MediaTek Wi-Fi driver 7.4.0.0 allows physically proximate attackers to interrupt service through WPS. The driver omits a bounds check when WPS is used, allowing received WPS data to trigger an out-of-bounds access. The attacker must be within Wi-Fi range; no authentication or user interaction is required, and the reported consequence is denial of service.
