Log tampering via embedded SFTP credentials
Published May 27, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Hard-coded credentials in Trend Micro Home Network Security 6.6.604 and earlier allow attackers to authenticate to its SFTP log server. The core binary embeds a log-upload username and password that the server accepts for creating files, changing permissions, and uploading data. Exploitation requires high-privileged code execution on the station; successful access can overwrite or replace collected logs.
