Code execution via DumpRawUIConfig stack overwrite
Published Sep 20, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Stack-based buffer overflow in GPAC before 1.0.1 allows local users to execute code by processing a crafted media file with MP4Box. DumpRawUIConfig in odf_dump.c writes one byte immediately past the 255-byte devName stack buffer while dumping malformed decoder configuration data. Exploitation requires user interaction to supply and process the crafted file; successful memory corruption can execute code in the MP4Box process.
