Command execution via reflected download-feature XSS
Published Apr 11, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Reflected XSS in Webmin 1.973 allows remote attackers to execute commands through the Upload and Download feature after user interaction. The feature reflects attacker-controlled request data into an HTML response without output encoding, causing the browser to run injected script in the Webmin origin. A logged-in Webmin administrator must open the crafted request; the resulting origin access can invoke administrative actions, including operating-system commands.
