Remote command execution via reflected cron-job XSS
Published Apr 11, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Reflected XSS in Webmin 1.973 allows remote attackers to execute commands through a crafted Scheduled Cron Jobs link. The tunnel/link.cgi endpoint reflects an attacker-controlled URL payload without neutralizing script content, allowing the script to submit a cron job in the victim's authenticated Webmin session. A Webmin administrator must follow the malicious link; the published proof of concept uses the resulting scheduled job to open a reverse shell with Webmin's server-side privileges.
