Application crash via NULL pointer dereference
Published Sep 13, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
NULL pointer dereference in the gf_isom_vp_config_get function in GPAC 1.0.1 allows attackers to crash MP4Box with a crafted media file. The function fails to validate an object obtained from the crafted file before dereferencing it, causing the process to terminate. A user or automated workflow must open the file locally; the reported consequence is an MP4Box crash without confidentiality or integrity impact.
