MP4Box crash via unchecked AV1 configuration pointer
Published Sep 13, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
NULL pointer dereference in GPAC MP4Box 1.0.1 allows local users to crash the command by processing a crafted media file. DumpTrackInfo assumes gf_isom_av1_config_get returns an AV1 configuration and dereferences the null av1c pointer without checking it. Exploitation requires MP4Box to inspect a crafted AV1 track, terminating that process without reported confidentiality or integrity impact.
