CVE-2021-32135

Process crash via unchecked movieFileMap dereference

Published Sep 13, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024

NULL pointer dereference in GPAC MP4Box 1.0.1 allows attackers to crash the process by supplying a crafted media file. In trak_box_size, the sample-encryption path passes ptr->moov->mov->movieFileMap->bs to senc_Parse without first validating that the object chain is present. Exploitation requires a user or another local workflow to make MP4Box process the file, and the demonstrated consequence is a process crash.
