Cross-site scripting via unsanitized proxy responses
Published May 7, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Cross-site scripting in StackLift LocalStack 0.12.10 and earlier allows remote attackers to execute JavaScript through proxy responses. The edge router's do_forward_request_network function returns attacker-controlled HTTP responses, which LocalStack renders without sanitization. A target user must visit an attacker-controlled page after unauthenticated proxy reconfiguration, enabling script access to LocalStack-origin data.
