Code execution through VP9 media processing
Published Jun 8, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Remote code execution in Microsoft VP9 Video Extensions before 1.0.41182.0 allows attackers to execute code through VP9 media. Microsoft has not published the affected decoder locus or the incorrect operation performed on untrusted media data. Exploitation requires user interaction with content handled by the codec and results in code execution rather than a codec-only playback failure.
