CVE-2021-31895Network attack vector

Remote code execution via unsanitized DHCP packets

Published Jul 13, 2021 · Updated Oct 14, 2025

Buffer overflow in Siemens RUGGEDCOM ROS devices before 4.3.7 or 5.5.4 allows remote attackers to execute code via DHCP packets. The DHCP client copies unsanitized packet data without checking the destination buffer size, overwriting adjacent memory. Network access to a DHCP-enabled device is required; successful exploitation grants code execution in the appliance firmware.
