Open redirect via unsanitized path
Published Feb 19, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Open redirect in slashify 1.0.0 for Node.js allows remote attackers to redirect victims to arbitrary domains via crafted URL paths. The Express middleware strips a trailing slash without validating paths that begin with two or more slashes or backslashes, so a path such as ///example.com/ becomes an external redirect. Exploitation requires a victim to follow the crafted link; the issue enables phishing and indirect disclosure of URL trust, not server-side code execution.
