Arbitrary SQL execution via unsanitized sort order
Published Apr 28, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
SQL injection in the Layer5 Meshery 0.5.2 REST API allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary SQL commands through the patternfiles endpoint. GetMesheryPatterns passes the user-controlled order parameter directly to GORM's Order method, which appends it to a database query without filtering. Network access to the endpoint is sufficient, and crafted input can read or alter application data or interrupt service.
