CVE-2021-31844

Elevated code execution via Ami Pro parser overflow

Published Sep 17, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024

Stack-based buffer overflow in McAfee Data Loss Prevention Endpoint before 11.6.200 allows local users to run elevated code via a crafted SAM file. The lasr.dll KeyView parser copies untrusted Ami Pro (.sam) content into a fixed-size destination buffer after incorrect source-size checks. A low-privileged user must place the file locally and cause the endpoint scanner to access it; successful exploitation compromises the host.
