ViewOnly-to-SuperUser escalation via unchecked role assignment
Published Jan 26, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Privilege escalation in Mission Labs SmartAgent 3.1.0 allows remote authenticated users with ViewOnly access to create a SuperUser account. The Campaign Manager user interface sends attacker-controlled role data to /api/createUser, which accepts an Admin role under a ViewOnly authorization token. A valid ViewOnly session is required, and successful exploitation creates a new administrative account with SuperUser privileges.
