Bluetooth deadlock via oversized LMP auto-rate packet
Published Sep 7, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Denial of service in Zhuhai Jieli AC690X firmware allows physically proximate attackers to deadlock Bluetooth via a crafted LMP packet. The LMP auto-rate procedure accepts a packet longer than 17 bytes without proper length handling and enters a deadlocked state. No prior pairing or authentication is required; an attacker within Bluetooth radio range can stop further Bluetooth communication until recovery.
