Device restart or deadlock via LMP flooding
Published Sep 7, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Denial of service in AB32VG1 Bluetooth Classic firmware allows physically proximate attackers to restart or deadlock devices via LMP flooding. The firmware accepts continuous unsolicited LMP_AU_rand responses after paging, allowing the flood to trigger a heap overflow in the Bluetooth implementation. The attacker must remain within Bluetooth radio range; the resulting service interruption is bounded to a firmware crash and restart or a device deadlock.
