Authenticated code execution via embedded BeanShell expressions
Published Nov 8, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Code injection in Hitachi Vantara Pentaho Business Analytics Server allows remote authenticated users to execute arbitrary code. Uploaded PRPT report bundles can contain BeanShell expressions whose getValue method the reporting engine evaluates without preventing operating-system command execution. The user must have privileges to upload or edit a report bundle and cause it to run; injected code executes with the Pentaho application user's host permissions.
