Root file overwrite via low-privilege CLI operations
Published Oct 19, 2021 · Updated Sep 17, 2024
Improper privilege management in Juniper Networks Junos OS and Junos OS Evolved allows local users to overwrite files as root via the CLI. The CLI performs a low-privilege user's selected local file overwrite with root authority; Juniper has not disclosed the affected command or selection path. Reachability requires a low-privilege CLI account and a running jdhcpd process; overwriting critical files can corrupt system state or cause sustained service interruption requiring manual recovery.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
