Remote routing service interruption via crafted BGP update
Published Oct 19, 2021 · Updated Sep 16, 2024
Improper exceptional-condition handling in Juniper Networks Junos OS and Junos OS Evolved allows remote attackers to crash RPD. RPD fails to handle an exceptional condition raised while processing a specific crafted BGP update, causing the daemon to terminate and restart. The update must reach a BGP session, and repeated receipt sustains the routing service interruption.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
