Stored XSS via executable Markdown links
Published May 11, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Stored cross-site scripting in Review Board 3.0.20 and 4.0 RC1 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to run JavaScript. The Markdown renderer accepts an executable JavaScript link instead of rejecting its unsafe URL scheme, then stores the crafted content. Exploitation requires legitimate review or code access and a victim click, after which script runs in the victim's Review Board session.
