Process crash via unchecked auxiliary offsets
Published Apr 19, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
NULL pointer dereference in GPAC MP4Box 1.0.1 allows local users to crash the process by opening a crafted media file. MergeTrack reads saio->offsets[0] without first confirming that the offsets array exists and contains an entry while merging track-fragment auxiliary information. Processing the crafted file is required, and the demonstrated consequence is an MP4Box process crash rather than code execution or data access.
