Remote code execution via unrestricted picture upload
Published Feb 22, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Arbitrary file upload in YITH WooCommerce Gift Cards Premium before 3.3.1 allows remote attackers to execute code via a crafted gift card image. The ywgc-upload-picture handler accepts a client-chosen filename and extension without validating the file type, then stores the upload at a predictable web-accessible path. Exploitation requires placing a valid Gift Card product in the cart; requesting an uploaded PHP file executes code with the web server's privileges.
