User enumeration via inconsistent password-reset errors
Published Jun 16, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Information disclosure in ServiceDesk Plus MSP before 10519 allows remote attackers to enumerate valid users through the Forgot Password function. The endpoint returns a different error message when an account exists, allowing submitted usernames to be distinguished from nonexistent accounts; with Active Directory authentication enabled, the same oracle can enumerate directory accounts. The attack requires network access to the password-recovery interface and reveals account existence only, not passwords or direct account control.
